CISV is committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility, it’s not only one of the content areas that we cover as part of our peace education focus, it’s also embedded in our local Chapters’ practices! One of the ways we achieve this is by reusing, recycling, and reducing waste of our memorabilia and CISV materials. This not only helps lower our carbon footprint but also supports our community through donations.

By reusing and recycling items such as t-shirts, banners, and other memorabilia, we minimize waste and promote a culture of sustainability. These efforts often translate into donations, where gently used items are given a new life and purpose, benefiting those in need.
Tips for Reusing and Recycling Your CISV Memorabilia at Home
Here are some practical tips to help you make the most of your CISV memorabilia, particularly clothing items like t-shirts:
- Upcycle into New Items: Transform old t-shirts into tote bags, pillowcases, or even quilts. This not only gives the fabric a new purpose but also creates unique, personalised items.
- Donate to Local Charities: If you have CISV memorabilia in good condition that you no longer need, consider donating them to local charities or like minded organisations. This helps reduce waste and supports those in need.
